Our most recent guest on the Ask About My Faith podcast, Moses Ehambe, is a player development coach for the Minnesota Timberwolves and a proud father of eight kids. His wife, Sarah, joins us on the podcast as well, sharing her wisdom, knowledge, and insight on how to engage the whole family in connection with God and empower kids at all ages to live life on mission.
When God Became Real
Moses knew how to live a faithful life from an early age, but his faith became his own during college. While at school, Moses met Sarah, and the two fell blissfully in love.
As a pro athlete of over 8 years, sports have always been a priority in Moses’ life. At the height of his career, Moses felt God ask him to step down from playing basketball while traveling internationally for the sport. Curious and confused, he visited a church after receiving this nudge from God to seek confirmation from the Lord. While at this church, a woman came up to him, prayed for him, and accurately confirmed the change that God was inviting him into.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.” - Proverbs 3:5 - 6
24 hours after knowing transition was officially coming, Moses received a job offer from the athletic director at his alma mater. This new job led the way for coaching several teams across the span of several years.
One open door after another, he found himself in the pro world as a coach and is currently in his fourth season of serving pro athletes. He’s now the training and development coach for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Practicing Sharing Faith as a Family
“If I’m going through something, I’m going to get through something!”
Whether it’s in the locker room, the airport, or at church, Moses is keen on sharing his faith and letting other people know the wonders of how God has influenced his life and changed his story.
As a family, the Ehambes strive to steward a culture of faith in their home. Creativity and curiosity have been the gateway for their children to encounter God and watch God encounter others around them. They will proactively pray and ask God for words of encouragement so that they may bless people they encounter.
Through practice, their kids are eager to share the love of Jesus with the person they’ve been praying for! This practice has opened many doors for the Ehambes and their children to have conversations about their faith.

There’s Always Enough Time to Pray
Life is busy, especially when you have eight kids and both parents working full time jobs. Yet business never seems to prevent Moses and Sarah from sharing their faith.
When taking their kids to school, the Ehambes will pray for those God has set on their heart while driving. Moses prays, Sarah prays, and then the children agree with their prayers and ask God to move creatively.
These preschool prayers bear actual fruit in the lives of teachers, students, and friends at church. The persistence of the Ehambe family proves that our prayers actually change things and that there’s never a reason to not love well.

Moses and Sarah have a few tips to help us live our lives on mission with God, regardless of what sphere of work you find yourself in.
Be intentional with your time and focus.
No one wants to be in competition with a phone, especially your spouse or children. As we become more intentional with those around us, we become more like Jesus.
Who knows how many conversations we may have missed with those around us because our phone has stolen our attention? As we set healthy boundaries with technology, we can become better at sharing our faith.
You’re blessed to be a blessing.
The Ehambes remind us that we have the honor and privilege to be generous with our time, our prayers, our faith, and our finances. We have all been radically blessed by the saving power of the cross and we have every reason to share it with others.
Moses, Sarah, and their children show us that life with God is simple and there’s always enough time in the day. As you head into your week, who’s one person you can pray for on your drive into work, school, or church?
Your prayers are powerful and have the potential to open up conversations about Jesus – the God who brings dead things to life, brings joy to our hearts, and brings light to the darkness.
