Being a follower of Jesus doesn't mean that life will be easy. We all face seasons in life when we feel stressed, worried, or anxious.
How do we respond to times of worry? We can respond with faith, not fear. Here are some ways to help you respond to worry with faith and hope.
When You Feel Anxious or Worried, God is With You
In the midst of those times, God is with us. He understands how you feel.
Our feelings of worry or anxiety can sometimes try to isolate us, making us feel alone in our emotions. But no matter what, trust that God is with you. He's on your side, and He wants the best for you.
God is not only capable of comforting you when you're worried, but He is also willing. He wants to be your help and your comfort. He wants to bring you peace.

When You Feel Anxious or Worried, You Are Not Alone
You are not alone. No matter how much it might seem that others have it all together, no one is perfect.
Find a community of friends -- a Bible study or small group at church, for example -- who you are able to talk to. Chances are, you'll find others who have lived with anxiety or worry that can offer support.

Bible Verses When You Feel Anxious or Worried
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” -Joshua 1:9
This Bible verse about worrying is a comforting reminder. It is common for us to feel alone and afraid when we are anxious. But God promises that He will be with us wherever we go.
The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid? -Psalm 27:1
Anxiety and fear often go hand in hand, so although this talks about fear, it is also a Bible verse about anxiety. We do not need to fear or worry because the Lord is in control.
I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. -Psalm 34:4
Scriptures about worry come with a promise: God is with you, and He can deliver you. Talk to Him through prayer, and let Him comfort you.
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. -Psalm 46:1
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” -Psalm 46:10
This is an important scripture for worriers. Be still. There is no need to frantically work yourself up into anxiety. Be still and remember Who God is. He is the Creator of the earth, and He is working on your behalf.
Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken. -Psalm 55:22
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. -1 Peter 5:7
What does the Bible say about anxiety? We are given instructions in these two scriptures. Cast your cares on the Lord. Throw them off of your shoulders and onto Him. He will sustain you.
When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. -Psalm 56:3
We all have moments where fear tries to consume us. When this happens, remember this scripture about fear. Make it the lockscreen on your phone, tape it to your mirror or your computer. In those moments, stop and say to God, “Lord, I put my trust in you.”
My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. -Psalm 73:26
When we are weak, He is strong. When we doubt, He is trustworthy. When we are anxious, He is our comfort.
When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy. -Psalm 94:19
This Bible verse for anxiety gives us great hope. When we are anxious, God brings us joy! He is the source of all love, comfort, and joy. Spend time enjoying His presence.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding -Proverbs 3:5
When we worry, it is easy to want to control everything. We tend to rely on our human efforts and problem-solving. But this scripture says don’t worry. Don’t try to figure it all out on your own. Instead, trust in the Lord and lean on His wisdom and guidance.
You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. -Isaiah 26:3
This Bible verse about peace reminds us that when we keep our minds fixed on God, His love, and what He has promised, we remember to trust Him. When we trust, we will have peace that transcends our current circumstance.
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. -Isaiah 41:10
For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you. -Isaiah 41:13
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. -Isaiah 43:1
These three Bible verses about worry and fear are great scriptures to memorize. Say these verses to yourself when you feel anxious. God is your God. He will give you strength and help you. You belong to Him.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." -Matthew 11:28
If you have ever experienced a season of anxiety, you know how exhausting it can be. Stress wears you out! You can spend sleepless nights consumed by worry. Come to Jesus. He wants to take your burdens and give you rest.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. -John 14:27
Jesus gives us peace that is eternal. Our troubles here on earth are momentary compared to the everlasting joy and peace that awaits us in heaven.
What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? -Romans 8:31
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. -Romans 8:38-39
These two Bible verses for anxiety both come from Romans 8. God is for you. He is on your side! Nothing or no one can separate you from His love. These scriptures promise us that we can walk through any circumstance with hope and peace.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. -Philippians 4:6
This scripture for anxiety gives us clear step-by-step instructions. Do not worry about anything. Anything! In every situation – big or small – do not be anxious. Instead, pray. Ask God to help you.
For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. -2 Timothy 1:7
We do not have to live consumed by fear or paralyzed by anxiety. The Holy Spirit gives us power, love, and a sound mind.
